So you'd walk into a bank and say "give me five bees for a quarter"?

No. Your thinking the bar where you get 5 beers for a quarter. Ancient Geeks had then on coins, as well as the Italy 10 cent.

No but between 1883 and 1912 you could get five V's for a quarter.

I was watching the Simpsons late last night and I heard the grandpa Abe say that back in his day nickels used to have bees on them. And he said the exact line "give me five bee's for a quarter."
Is that where you got it from? Because I was very confused by this thread the first time I read it hah.

Was that the same one where he was saying he had an onion on his belt?

Abe has a habit of rambling on about nothing and not really reciting true facts.

Yeah, it was on the other night here and I thought about this thread.

I would have posted sooner, but I try to unplug (at least from the internet) on the weekends.

I am glad I was not the only one who caught it.
