I am pretty sure it is from Nepal. Can we get some dimensions? Unfortunately two of their kings have almost exactly the same name and it looks like your coin is from the time period. If no one answers by tomorrow I will try to find it for you in the morning.

Your coin appears to be from Nepal. 1 Rupee dated 1979.

okay thanks. I wondered where I got it from. I actually went to Nepal in the early 1990's so I must have brought it back with me.

Date is found under the trident in two parts : 20 and 36
If your coin is 3gram than it is 25 paisa from Nepal (KM# 815)
if the coin is 5gram and 23,5mm than it is 50 paisa (KM# 821)
metal is cuppr-nickel
mintage unknown by Krause
