I recently posted a capped bust.
This is a coin I bought. It is 1882 Morgan O over S.
I am going to slow down buying for a bit and get more experienced at grading by using the references I read on the forum. In the meantime, I bought this thing. I am guessing it is not really a BU, with the wear on it- and that it has probably been cleaned? So the $52 I paid is probably partially for the coin with the rest of the money going towards educational fees.

Anyone willing to share any thoughts on grading?

That coin is a very fine at best and polished. Learn how to spot cleaned coins and check the grading links at PCGS and other places. It will save you a ton of cash. nlp
Rest in Peace

I think the person that sold this coin has questionable ethics. I suggest returning the coin for a refund if at all possible as it is not high grade, gem or PQ. It is not even rare for that matter, but that's besides the point. If a return is out of the realm of possibilities, chalk it up to a class in the school of hard knocks, and welcome to the club, I'm a member.

, VF and most definitely polished.

Ya, I'm also very disappointed in this seller and feel he's a straight up scammer to label this coin as such, because as Dave mentioned this coin is far from anything listed.. If a return is possible absolutely send her back. But if not, a lesson learned. Don't feel bad though, another member of "the school of hard knocks" here as well...

This forum is amazing for learning how to help you grade.. Also PCGS photograde is an excellant resource, you can even download the app to your phone (if you have a smartphone) for on the go use (or if your phone doesn't have apps but has Internet you can just go to the page while out shopping)... Study it, learn it, & then buy it. But again, don't feel bad, we've all done it at some point...

If a coin is worn but looks new and shiny, its probably to good to be true.

This one looks polished and nothing close to high grade, VF 30 at best.

crazyglue! As others have said yes this coin is polished but it is an O/S variety, they seem to only bring a big premium when they are an early die state or in AU55 and higher grades. I'd grade it VF20 details polished.

Thank you to everybody. I appreciate your comments and observations. I am working on learning the grading much better (great forum and tools on this site) and am working on my impulse shopping.

I did contact the seller and they did agree to a full refund.

Thanks
