We have a jar we put our pocket change in, and as my wife was looking through it today
She found an 1897 Indian Head penny. I would say it would grade "good".
I can't imagine who would have spent this, putting it back into circulation.
I, however, never seem to have the good luck she does. Guess it pays to watch your change.

I found a IHC in a roll before. I almost didn't recognize it because it was REALLY beat up. Same date as yours.

Good catch. Always keep looking. Due to the economy, many people with jars, cans, boxes of coins laying around are now spending them.

I like to spend some wheat back cent from time to time.
I enjoy it when I find a old coin in change,
so I like to return the favor and hope the lucky person enjoys finding and seeing these old coins.

The luckiest I get is the occasional silver Washington quarter every now and then. I've heard stories of people getting Buffalo nickels, mercuries, and IHC but I guess they must be cashiers or something!
