Went to the big city (Saginaw Mi) today and got a 1899 IHC in my change Will post pics in the grading section tomorrow. This is only my third or forth IHC found roll hunting/in change. John1

Are we to understand that you got this at a Wendy's Restaurant!? Old-fashioned hamburgers and such? I have heard this type of story several times on the forum. I am amazed that IHCs still pop in rolls, much less change! I'm lucky to find a late model Wheat cent from time to time.

I salt the mine from time to time by throwing in a few Wheaties and an Indian or two (low grade) in my change when I roll it. Who knows what future coin guy/gal I'm hooking?

Wow - quite exciting to get a C19th coin in change in the C21st - not possible in the UK although theoretically Gold sovereigns from 1837 onwards are still legal tender for £1...

The only time I have gotten any thing out of Saginaw was out of a coin shop, and I have tried at the banks.
Congrats John1

Quote: not possible in the UK True, but as late as the early 70's you could still collect the pennys all the way back to 1860 out of circulation

I found a beat up 1897 IHC in a roll. It is still possible, but BOY, is it RARE.
