The only practical usage for die cracks, chips, gouges, breaks is to help identify die states on variety dies. Here is an example: (Looks like the one you found)

I found this one one of the doubled die reverses on the coppercoins die:

I see it wasn't listed yet, but a new marker for the LDS example.
There are more interesting things to look for on coins. But you will learn more as time goes on. But there are out there. (To help you lean more quickly you might read my message line.)
