Found a coin in my coin collection. On one side the image is fairly faded, but I could make out the name Charles on one side, and on the other side, a date, which looked to be in the 1600's, any help would be appreciated!

I have no clue what it is, but how the heck was this in circulation? What was it seen as a dime?

Looks like a denier tournois of France or some French state.
I think the date looks like 1651, but can't be sure. And the other side is too worn for me to be sure on the particular state (other than that it probably isn't France itself).

I think this is it:
Charles II de Gonzague, duke of Mantua and Montferrat. I agree the date looks more like 1651, though.
