I have dug up a thin Halfpenny with the design of Britannia indented on the rear, Britannia on the front - it is like half a coin? Any ideas?

SOunds like a brockage - pretty valuable. Its where the coin adheres to the die so the next coin gets struck by one die and then the stuck coin acts at the otherr, leaving an indent of the face.

We'd really need to see pictures of what you have to be sure of what we're talking about. From your description it sounds like it might be a brockage, but brockages aren't usually described as being particularly thin.
