I found a toonie that is considerably thinner than normal ones, and that has a different feel. No it's not made out of chocolate. Has anyone ever found a fake toonie? I would think the lack of an economy of scale would make the manufacture of such a thing pointless.

I believe they were manufactured at the Montreal Mint.

Forum member 'SPP Ottawa' has some info on counterfeit toonies.

Maybe this topic should be in the regular section. Not NCLT

It was dubbed the "Montreal Mint" because the guy was making fakes there. It was basically a guy who ran a factory that made tokens and medals. He was getting busted for tax issues by revenue Canada and the RCMP and when they went there they found out he was making fake twoonies. I think he made them for 2004,2005. Busted in 2006 possibly. It should be fairly easy to find on google.

Let,s not jump to conclusions. The coin may be a criminal forgery or a legit error. We need the picture to be sure.

Note: if a forgery, you are strongly advised to,send it to RCMP or to SPP (for zapping prior to disposing - he will take care of it)

I found one of these. Too bad my son spent it and I didn't get a chance to send it to SPP.
