So I found a guy ("yellowlight77") on ebay selling 3 boxes of Canadian cents for about $162 with shipping to USA or Canada. He also includes a pair of rolls of 2012 cents, one roll is all magnetic and the other non. I took a flyer on this and sent him my check, a few days later the box arrives at my office. There were 3 boxes of shotgun rolls as promised plus the two rolls of 2012 cents in clear cellophane(?) as pictured in the ad. The ad said to expect some US cents in the rolls as they were retrieved from southern Ontario where US coins circulate freely. When I searched the boxes I found about a dozen KGIV cents, about 20 1950's QEII cents and a couple hundred 60's. Of these were about 75 67 Centennials including one that looked brand new. I also found 3 2 euro cent coins, but oddly only 5 US cents, 1 zinc and 4 copper. I filled all post-1940 slots of Warman's Cent book except for the 47 and 54 as well as a couple 30's slots. This worked out well for me, I now have 7600 various Canadian cents to add to my casual collection. I suppose I could have tried to buy boxes when I was there, but this was pretty convenient and worth the premium.

i say you did good, and there is close to a zero chance of buying boxs here in Canada, they have been out of circulation for the most part since February.

Did you look for 2006 magnetic no logo no p? Or 1985 pointed 5's?
I went through about 100 boxes and found 20 of the 2006's, so I averaged about 1 every 5 boxes.

That's a really low amount of American cents! You could easily find more than 5 U.S cents in an average roll let alone 3 boxes so for you that's great. I've collected over 15lbs of copper U.S cents which is more than 1/10 of my Canadian copper finds so that gives you an idea of how prevalent they normally are in Southern Ontario. Pennies are still out there for face value but being in the U.S ebay may be your only option. Anything before 1940 and 1954 (tough year) are fairly scarce in circulation.

None of the banks around here will sell them to me for face. I wish though :)

So let me get this straight Brexzz1, the banks are charging you premiums for cent boxes? And if so, how much are they dinging you for?

No. They will not sell them at all. All pennies returned to banks are supposed to go back to the mint to be destroyed for metal content. I have heard of some people being able to convince tellers to sell them boxes of pennies. But as of Feb 4th I havent been able to get any

One of my banks will still sell me "bags" of pennies... I usually pick up 2 - 5 bags per fortnight.. The ladies would rather not ship them out... and we have a standing agreement as long as I don't return any pennies there they will let me have as many as I can pick up at any time.
I don't know how long this luxury will last but from the sounds of it.... I should milk this train as long as possible..

I also have a milking train. Sometimes they only have a few rolls, one time I picked up 8 bags. Let me guess...you pick up your pennies at an RBC and dump them through the coinstar machine at a TD? I love my setup because the TD and the RBC are about 100 feet from each other so I don't even bother moving my car :)

I went through about 100 boxes and found 20 of the 2006's, so I averaged about 1 every 5 boxes. No magnetic 2006's without logos. I thought I had a couple but they were non-maggies that got picked up by my probe. I went through a couple other tubes of my sortings and found a few non-maggies in some of the tubes I culled from these three boxes. I guess they got caught up between other magnetics... I will check later for pointed 85's, gotta look that one up!
