I saw this listing on Craigslist. I've been looking for a Canon 100mm lens. Would this be a good buy for all (3)? Wouldn't mind having a 50mm too.

Looks like a good buy to me. If the lenses are scratch/haze/fungus free they are worth far more than that. When you view them, look through them with a penlight or flashlight and look for haze and fungus, and for surface cleaning scratches. A couple small scratches, or a bit of internal dust, is not much of a problem, but internal haze or fungus I'd suggest you pass on. If I saw that 100mm in my local craigslist I'd go for it...Ray

Good price, but you're not getting what you think.

Canon FD lenses are film lenses, and the mount is not compatible with EF/EF-S - you're going to need an adapter. The 100mm is not a macro lens, and you will be unable to use it to image coins. The 50/3.5 is a macro lens, and a good one, with the compromises of magnification and relief inherent in the focal length. If you're a "walkaround" photographer, you'll find the 50/1.4 to be among the best one-lens solutions out there.

In all cases, you're going to need to learn to depend on manual focus because there is no autofocus. These are lenses for the expert photographer.

For good ideas on pricing older lenses or selling for that matter I use http://www.keh.com I have bought a lot of lenses from them over the years, they are fair, and even the bargain lenses are in way better condition than you would think. I have no connection with them other than being a satisfied customer from years back now. They have every one of those lenses up in the used section now.

But yep, these won't work on a newer EOS camera film or digital, it must be the FD film cameras only. There are adapters made but I have never found one to work well, unless it's the rare Canon one. They made an FD to EOS adapter that is actually pretty good, but when, and if, you can find one, it sells for at least $400+ The sports and wildlife guys love it, because they can use the old (now cheap) 300 F?2.8, or 400 F/2.8 and 500/F4.5 Canon glass on the newer camera bodies, all manual of course. I've used on with the 500mm F/4.5FD lens on a film camera with pretty good success, but never tried it with a digital body.
