The price has been steady for a while now staying at 21-2500. Which leads me to believe that it will stay this way until supply runs low. There has been a steady 25-28 listed ( you can't count on this listing count because there are some auctions with just the word gold in them.) the whole series is doing well, even with the new release for this months coins. I thought the candy cane and piedfort might "steel" supermans thunder but I guess not.

I agree with Northerncoins that the keeper value of superman gold is high and my feeling is that most serious collectors will want to hold onto it for a while at least before the high prices tempt them into relieving their credit card debt..and the serious collectors will include a lot of comic book superman fans who are known to spend 10k on one comic book

Not all comic book Superman fans are coin collectors and vice versa. Those serious comic book collectors will put the $10,000 toward another high grade comic book. Put it another way, how many of the coin collectors on this forum are going to run out and buy a $10,000 comic tomorrow? |

@ moneypenny...there is only 1 gold superman coin available to Superman collectors . In contrast there are 22 issues of Action Superman and 20 plus Issues of DC Superman which regularily sell for 10 K to 1.2 million dollars in the top grades. So if you are a serious investor/ collector of Superman you wont have any problem buying the only Superman gold coin available at any price....and the psychology of rare collectibles is that when the prices get higher they attract more attention and even higher prices and , I believe, this will happen with Superman Gold. But only time will tell and I could be wrong for sure but I've put my money into Superman for the long term and will resist flipping any of my Superman Gold....till prices hit above 5k

I think the Man of Steel is a stellar coin, whereas the shield is nice, but incomplete on its own. According to your charts, the hologram appears to be ready to take off. The gold coin is stable and is ready to break out very soon; either up or down.
Any data on the piedfort and/or candy cane would be real cool in the future! Keep up the good work!

Two years ago people were making charts like those above for the 2011 25th Anniversary American Silver Eagle sets. Updating realized prices weekly for raw and graded sets (NGC69, NGC70, PCGS69, PCGS70). Prices spiked, then levelled off at around double the issue price (for ungraded sets) and have held there for over a year. I think we'll see a similar phenomenon with the superman gold coins. If I were holding one with the intention of selling it for maximum profit, I'd have it listed on ebay right now. In a few months when the next hot RCM coin/coins come out, people will begin forgetting about this one. |

BiBo, I also received my "Vintage Superman" from the RCM today and as I anticipated it really looks great! I don't understand why some folks are hesitant to buy this coin. It's the only one still available on the mint's website. I know it's only 1/4 OZ of fine silver, but the design is based on the back cover of the very first comic book. It goes very well with the gold coin which is based on the front cover. Technically this coin is quite complicated and comes across very well.

Hey, awesome coin! Much nicer than the stock pic!  I guess people are hesitant to buy this 1/4 ounce coin, because it isn't in color... ? The high price of the silver content could be an issue, considering the Man of Steel is half the cost... the stock pic looks a bit cheesy too... BTW, Gatewest has the gold coin up for sale again, but at $2400...  |

Thanks for upload the photo to share with folks here how nice this coin is.
If I use my phone to take the pic, It won't be this clear and detail. :)
Also no more Superman Vintage at Mint now. It is gone.
$44.75 is a good price for this coin.
