Just got my S-Shield coin from Gatewest.

From reading comments, most people recommend taking the tape off the coins because it may lead residue.
However, how do you keep the coin in place while you are opening the box, etc?
I find that without the tape the coin just flies around and I'm afraid it'll damage the capsule in the future.

this question of the display case is a good one because the technical geniuses at the RCM obviously couldnt deal with it either hence the tape....and many of the coins were put in crooked so they are now taped in askew in the holder..fortunately they used removable tape which doesn't appear to leave discernable residue..for a short term display outside the box you can use a common wooden match as follows:: cut the head off the match and cut the match into 2 pieces and place on either side of the black base..... these shims make the cover easy to remove for a casual display but it obviously is not the answer for a permanent tape free solution...but it works for an out of the box display for sure......like when you invite your friends into your secret coin room for a superman release party lol

For those still interested, here are the weekly ebay selling stats for the Superman coins.

Note that I excluded the graded coins (I think there were two this week) since those carry a premium that is not directly related to the "popularity" of the coin itself.

Thanks thecurse9!

It looks to me like prices are levelling off. Most folks are probably saving up for Christmas and need funds for other expenses.

@NuMoosematist

Seems so to me too. Except for the "S-Shield" and "Man of Steel" that keep climbing slowly, the other coins are mostly stable.

It's still early to say but I personnaly don't think the Gold Coins will skyrocket (nor drop) in the weeks before Christmas. I guess we will see very soon...

Thanks thecurse9 !

Do you take in consideration the shipping fees?

What's the premium for a graded Superman coin?

@arianzo

No, I don't add shipping fees. I can see how this could be relevant but since it depends on the location of the buyer and I wanted to simplify the data extraction process, I decided to ignore it.

As for the graded coins, here are the two ended listings:

If you grade it it's to sell it. They're receiving $300 per coin!

You can sell 2 of them and with that money buy another one with the case.

Curious... the seller of those graded Superman coins "may not" ship them to Canada.

The demand and the price of the Gold Superman coin has cooled considerably. There are some in the range of $2000 with no bidders or one or two bidders. Even those that sell sometimes have only one bidder. When the coin was hot, there could be more than 20 bidders for one of them.
