I also posted this in the current Large cents and Half Cents posts by year going on now in the classic coins forum. The books I've been able to acquire so far on Early American Copper coins. From Top to bottom left to right they are: American Half Cents -The little half sisters 2nd ed. - Roger S. Cohen Quick Finder guide on US Half Cents - Gregory S. Heim Copper Quotes (11th ed.) - Jack H. Robinson Encyclopedia of US Half Cents 1793-1857 - Walter Breen Encyclopedia of US Colonial and proof coins 1793-1909 - Walter Breen American Half Cents -The little half sisters 1st ed. - Roger S. Cohen Penny Whimsy - William H. Sheldon Attribution Guide for US Large Cents 1840-1857 - Grellman & Reiver US Large Cents 1816-1839 - William C. Noyes US Copper Cents - Howard Newcomb The Half Cent Die State book 1793-1857 - Ronald P. Manley US Half Cents - Ebanezer Gilbert US Half Cents 1793-1857 - Bowers & Ruddy Now I'm missing a few of the more expensive William C. Noyes books on early cents and the John D. Wright's The CENT book, which are planned additions soon, along with joining the EAC this month, and getting the back issues of Penny Wise up to date and the latest Copper Quotes edition. P.S. Walter Breen's exellent book on Early US Large Cents (out of print and expensive, if you can find a copy), has just been released, for free, online by PCGS! You can find a link here: http://www.pcgs.com/books/earlycents/Nothing like getting better educated, before dropping your hard earned money on coins, plus, it makes for a good way to end an evening, much better than sitting in front of the boob tube! Nice grabs! I really want the Grellman series. I noticed the Crosby tucked away up top. This book is a great resource it is not easy reading.

Yes the Crosby book is very detailed and a tough read, but considering how it was the first US Coin book in that went into real details on coin varieties, and also considering how long ago it was written, it's a must have for my library. Breen's Half Cent book is probably the easiest to read bunch and the best overall book by far is The Half Cent Die State book 1793-1857 by Dr. Manley. That book is a tour de force in writing and showing in photos what the author was conveying to the reader, a must have for all Half Cent enthusiasts! Get one if you can the price is going up fast it came out at $75.00 now I'm seeing copies sold between $250-450! Scroll down this forum and check out my post on the Crosby edition I missed out on on ebay!

@Westcoin, you inspired me to get some myself, so I couldn't help it .... http://www.ebay.com/itm/12-COIN-BOO...047675.l2557Sadly, the seller just contacted me and told me that she has never shipped to Canada before, and the shipping is actuall $67 instead of the $21 the listing said. I don't know what to do !

You outbid me on that lot, I only wanted the Numismatic Gallery book of large cents, the rest I was going to resale on ebay. Price got more than I wanted to pay. I just checked shipping cost from Hamilton Ohio (where seller is) to Canada in a flat rate box - $58.00, you could always ship them to me, and I'd ship on the rest minus the Kossoff book and the Vermont book to you! Let me know if that works. PM me if you want.

No not at all - I bowed out after $80.00 as I already had a lot of the books, the Newcomb, Breen and Sheldon books are worth what you bid alone. I already have them all, and would have just relisted them on ebay, I am kind of interested in seeing how the Kossoff book reads. I have found a copy online for $40.00. Let me know when you get it!

I just ordered one last week, should be here in a few days, I'll post a review on it, the full provenance is on his website: http://www.1794largecents.com/1794/provenance.htmLooks like a good book, I found a new copy on an Amazon affiliate site for $16.89 so I grabbed it up quick.

Yes the Noyes books are expensive, but I've found no better reference yet on early and middle date large cents, except John Wright's book "The CENT book". It is very clear as a reference book with excellent photos and descriptions. There is a copy on ebay right now around $55.00 a bargain at that price if you ask me, I paid almost $90.00 for my copy.
