Hello everyone,

I picked this beauty up this week and am debating whether or not to send her out to get slabbed likely at NGC if I do. From examples I've looked at on Heritage and ebay auction histories I definately think its uncirculated. What numerican grade do you folks think it would get?

Best regards,

XoG

With my "Limited" knowledge of Sovereigns,I only have 4 so far.
This coin appears to have been circulated and I would call it EF or AU 50-53

Grading wise, trout1105 is 'on the money'.
In this condition, they would be valued at probably $50 to $100 above bullion value.

These coins were much more used for bullion payments, and little used in circulation.
It was the half sovereign that saw much more circulation, and they had a mintage of only about 10% of the sovereigns.

A very worthy addition to any collection of World coins. It is quite a nice piece to have.
Slabbing is not really popular in Australia.
If I was an American and considering to slab this piece?
Probably not.

Just put it into a cardboard / Mylar flip with trout's grading, and also note when and how much you paid for it. You can't write that sort of information on a slab, anyway.

I wouldn't agree. I wouldn't go that high, I would be around AU-53.

PCGS wouldn't grade it that high , I am assuming that NGC gave this generous grade.
Far too much wear to be AU58 IMHO.

It's 58. Light wear on hairlines, but otherwise nearly full detail. Sovs in AU50 - 53 have flat dragons and hairlines.

It was graded by NGC, here are some better pics of it in the slab that show the luster. The reverse looks MS to me.
