"Has Canada ever issued, for example, solid gold 1 cent coins, which your gold-plated 1 cent coins would clearly "resemble"? Or, given the rather liberal definition of "resemble" that some folks here in the Canadian subforum prefer to use when talking about counterfeits and fantasies, is it enough to argue that a gold-plated 1 cent coin "resembles" an as-yet-hypothetical solid gold 1 cent coin which the RCM might have struck, and is therefore also illegal?" http://www.mint.ca/store/coin/125-o....UjZf9Soo5joseems pretty close to me.

They are not the same size. That is much smaller and the OBV doesn't even have the mint mark. Not alike in any way.

Jkol, did you make any headway in trying to get in touch with anyone at ebay to try and resolve it?

yes jdmern I did I'm just waiting on them they seem to move in slow motion. I have escalated the dispute and sent in my appeal I provided them with pictures of the coin the difference between the coins and also the direct link to the Canadian law for numismatics. I was totally honest about these coins and never tried to sell them as solid gold or silver nor a existing coin or make some fancy card to make it seem like a mint product. They seem to think these pennies are replica/counterfeit which obviously they are not It should be settled very soon.

So after 10 days ebay has FINALY sided with me... ;) They told me I can relist all my items that were removed also that this will never happen again and they will send apology messages to all that were bidding when the items were removed. I'm really happy this is over with and I am now looking into suing the person that reported me for lost wages for the 10 days and wasting my time. This is for from over for them. Its pointless idiot people like this that need to be taught a lesson about false reporting sellers on ebay!! Thanks for all the support guys, you gave me the courage to pursue this nonsense. P.S ebayis going to modify their rules about this matter so it does not affect me or other sellers alike again.

Quote: I am now looking into suing the person that reported me for lost wages for the 10 days and wasting my time. Pointless, its not their fault, its ebay's. They're the ones you'd have to sue. I call the police and tell them that my neighbor is burning leaves. (I call ebay and tell them your selling plated coins) Police come out and write them ticket for $500. ( ebay removes the listings) But wait! Burning leaves is not illegal! (But Wait! selling plated coins is OK) Cop's fault, not mine. (eBay's fault not mine.) Plus ebay will not tell you who reported you, you'd have to get a court order to get the name and you must file for it in San Jose. That's just to get the name.

Glad to hear it worked out for you and you've now set the new precedent for plated coins on ebay so no one else will have the same problem or if so can have it quickly resolved.

trout I'm confused.. So CCW Is CCF? Would the link we use to report counterfeits be the so called coin community watch group referring to CCF?

No, they are not the same at all.. Some members here may also be members of the ebay watch group... But who knows. But again, no, not the same.

I imagine that the link on this site that is used to report violations is called CCW.

As has been stated several times, there is no formal connection between the CCF forum and the group of experts which ebay calls the Coin Community Watch Group. All we share is an unfortunate coincidence of name, and perhaps a couple of joint members. Swamperbob gave some insight into how the CCWG works in this post. They do not have "admins". They're kind of like a secret society in that they don't know who the other members are. They have no direct power themselves, they simply act as advisers to the ebay Safety and Trust people responsible for monitoring and dealing with policy violations.

So if I made a report with the link provided by CCF I wont see CCW in the message from ebay when the items are removed? P.S Sap I would not call them "EXPERTS" more like idiots
