Since I got back from New York this past January I started working 3rd shift at my job and lost interest in collecting, I'm not on the register anymore to find where most of my silver came from at face value, but I do get paid more to support this hobby/investment. I know I shouldve taken advantage when silver dropped down to 16 dollars an ounce a few weeks back but I didn't. I'm searching ebay for a Silver Eagle now if I can find a great price Coin roll hunting has never worked for me, I've gone through hundreds of dollars worth of quarters and dimes and only found the occasional Canadian and actually lost money due to rolls missing as many as 3-5 coins each! Your reduction of interest may be due to stress, exhaustion, depression.
Don't worry about it; the interest will probably return.
I have long periods where I don't actively look at or for coins, then something will trigger my interest again.

Silver dropped to 16? Man, I have not been paying attention. The great thing about collecting and CCF is we are always here. Life sometimes happens but the hunt is always available when you feel like it. Continue to check in when you are up to it

Yeah, it's been a while since I posted here and I can say I went through a significant depression mainly due to my girlfriend breaking up with via text on our 3 year anniversary, the same day I planned to ask her to marry me.
and yeah, silver went down to around 16 if not very close, even though I wasn't collecting I was still following the price, I've never seen it so low before, I really regret not buying during that

At the risk of sounding sappy, you most likely dodged a bullet (and this is coming from a girl!). I know it may not seem like it but at least she was wise enough to break it off and save the both of you much more grief in the long run. Whatever her reasons, she did you a favor.
Just keep checking in - the forum is a great place to escape to, even if just to peruse.

Silver / coin collecting shouldn't be the top priority in life. It just seems like you are flat out working and had dramas. I think you need to work out a life balance. Sorry to hear what happened and hope that things work out in your favor.

Common practice lately. Banks by me now take in coins in rolls but before you get your money, they send them out for counting. And if in rolls, your charged for the time to undo the rolls. Sounds petty that a roll is missing a coin or two but if you think about some of the people that go through hundreds or thousands of rolls and short each one by one coin, it adds up. As to loosing interest. I know what you mean. I too loose interest in coins about Wednesday of each week. Then there is another coin show on the weekend, so my interest comes back.

It happens, people just don't get the same pleasure out of it that they used to. Give it a break and come back to it later. Who knows what will spark your interest again.

For me, all interests come in waves. Sometimes its coins as my main interest, sometimes its not. You are not the only one lately to feel this way: Does it come in waves for you too?

I've come to crossroads much like you did. I came to grips that I just needed a hiatus from the hobby. This will do a couple things, not only will it refresh your brain and allow you to focus on the things in your life that matters most, but this will allow you to gain an appreciation for the hobby that you never knew existed.

When I listen to LED ZEPPELIN...so do my neighbors... Roll hunting since '77 Dirt fishing since '72
