What do I think? I think the person who put a hole in that coin should be tar and feathered.

Agreed. The Million Dollar question is what it could be worth?

The 1847 is a common date in the series and that hole makes it ungradeable, but if genuine, they would slab it and describe a details grade - holed. The most you could expect to get for it is about $150-$200 to an enthusiast with some extra $$. I personally wouldn't spend the money for grading. That's an extra expense you probably wouldn't recoup in selling it.
I see nothing that would indicate a "copy" from the obverse photo (can't see reverse). Have you weighed it? A genuine coin will weigh between 25.5~26.5 grams.

I sold it at philly show the buyer was very happy to get it. Said it should be worth over a grand once he gets it repaired and graded.

Even if the hole were to magically disappear it would still be a details grade coin in my opinion. Any reputable TPG will spot a plugged hole, even if expertly done.
