Now that you mention it, the 8 and the first 4 (at least) definitely look re-punched. Bonus!!

Thank you everyone!

I didn't know very much about Half Dimes. Never had one. I didn't know about "re-punched dates" (RPD) till I started researching this coin. I didn't think it was a RPD looking at it, but then I got out my loupe. The 8 stood out almost right away. Gawking at it awhile longer and then I noticed the first 4. Then finally the 1. Can't really tell on the last 4.

I was a bit dismayed by the scratches, but at least they are not too deep and the worst of them are on the reverse.
