Hi Everyone,

I just picked up this 1917 Type 1 SLQ. What do you think it would grade?

Are those your photos or the sellers photos?

I would go MS62 as there are some hard hits on the leg and eagles wings HOWEVER I usually get original surfaces wrong on AU and MS coins if they have been dipped and the reverse fields look pretty porous considering the strong strike so I would go UNC details cleaned as well.

I took the photos myself. I showed the coin to a local dealer and he said it looks like it was dipped, but has UNC details. Based on your feedback, he was probably right.

One of my Type 1 UNC details.

The other one was bagged for obverse scratch and is nowhere as near as nice as this one and hence was half the price.

The consensus was the reverse was dipped to remove folder residue.

Increase distance from the lense, shoot in natural lighting, and then post pictures.

Have seen some of the SLQ's tone with a light champagne color.

Of note, with the nice shield, full rivets,....this will grade as a FH as well.
