I poked around CCF but didn't see a thread about this anywhere. Mods, feel free to close this thread if I am mistaken...

I just saw that an 1880 $4 piece is hitting the auction block:
http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/oddnews...4025987.html

It is scheduled for auction September 23rd according to the article, and could bring in $1.5 million. A little out of my price range...

I won't be bidding on any coins at the Tacasyl auction, but I'll be watching it. Surprised that a major coin auction house isn't holding the sale, instead of Bonhams, while they are a top class auction house, they are most known for fine art auctions. There are four $4.00 Stellas in this auction too by the way.

Ok, so now that I look around a bit more, there is much more to this auction than a $4 stella, as westcoin alluded to.

I've always wondered why I could never find those anywhere. I never knew they were never intended for cicculation.
