This token is listed by Charlton's as LC-54D2;(LC is Lower Canada).
As Wade mentioned, this variety is notorious for shewing weakness across the chest and throat. This absence of detail is not attributed to wear.
Dependent upon the colour and remaining luster, this could even be MS.
The wreath, fingers holding the laurel branch, the stones on the ground, the design in the shield, the tines of the trident, the detail of the tail feathers, and fledging exhibit no wear. This all indicates MS state.
Thanks for all your opinions... It is really quite a nice piece and just acquired it for $60 shipped which I think isn't bad ( a little more then want but oh well).. Also got my Token Book so I see more tokens in the future.
Got this in hand now and its gorgeous... I don't see any signs of wear and the brown with the little bit of copper coming through makes it beautiful in hand. I love the details probably my favorite coin I own now.
