teddyziggy New Member United Kingdom 4 Posts	Posted 09/14/2013 1:57 pm I've just found this coin in my back garden. It was covered in wet dirt, so gave it a gentle clean with a lightly damped cloth to remove the soil as I know you're not meant to clean old coins. But even so I can't make out much detail. The front is a mystery to me, I can barely read the letters and whatever is in the centre, just looks like a blob and the back seems to be a lion/horse/camel sitting on the ground underneath a palm tree. When I let it drop onto a table, it doesn't sound to me like it would be a button, but then again I don't know what old buttons could be made of. Report this Post to the Staff

My guess would be South Carolina based on the tree but I am far from an expert. If it is they can get a little pricey so do take the time to look farther. Or could just be a fantasy button to dress up a jacket, you know, the sort that lounge lizards wear as they try to chat up rich widows.
