Just noodled this coin and noticed it has quite a bit of lustre on both sides but the obverse doesn't have much detail and the reverse seems to be double struck, any opinions would be appreciated

Hey stevo nice noodle although I would have to say that the reverse is VF while the obverse looks like it is F or VG due to the details on the kings headband. This coins looks like it was heavily polished a while ago on the obverse leading to blurred details. Anyway on another note I believe the mint used to polish their specimens when they toned and I believe they were struck a number of times.

I don't see any lustre on it. Can you photograph it in such a way that shows lustre?

Are you talking about the reddish colour or is there actual cartwheel lustre that's not coming up in the photo?

I have had a look at this coin on this and the "Other" site and all it looks to me is a road rash coin.
I could be wrong ( God knows I have been before) It IS pretty dinged up Mate

Yeah the reddish areas look like lustre to me in hand but
I wouldn't be surprised if it is roadkill, its a very odd
looking coin

I think you're confusing lustre and brilliance, brilliance is original colour (red for copper), lustre is the natural reflectivity of a coin (usually in cartwheel form).

That redness on your coin isn't original brilliance either, your coin looks like it was covered in something corrosive which ate away at the top layer of the coin.
