Scans are pretty horrible, but here they are.

Changed to pictures:

And the comparison from Charlton's:

Pretty sure it has been cleaned in it's 120+ year life, but I am seeing neat things under the loupe. For instance, the "C" in Canada is doubled as is the D in "DEI", and it is an OC3a as far as I can tell.

For sure large leaf. And looks large date to me. It looks like the "his belly hangs over his toes". What I mean is the upper body of the 9 is out farther then the bottom tail of the nine. In a small date the upper body is even with the tail. Need a better picture of the nine to be sure.

is the coin perfectly square to the camera? It still kinda looks like a large 9, unless you look at the centre loop, then it looks small. Anyway to get a perfectly straight picture of the coin, or a close up of the 9?

VF or VF-30, cleaned. That is a small date. The 9 in the large date looks extremely odd, the top loop is large and round:

The 9 on the large date looks to be leaning towards the left, and the 9 in the small date looks to be leaning back a little to the right. I think it's a little better than VF honestly, the details are really good although you cannot see it from these pics. I agree with the cleaning as well.
