So I found my first clipped planchet. I guess it would be considered a straight clip. Is it legit? Thanks!

I do not know the exact diagnostics to identify these ...

Appears authentic to me from what I can see ... the weak 9 in the obverse date coupled the shape of the rim truncation lead me to my conclusion ... might eat those words later.

Wishing you the best when the experts show up and educate us.

Yes, straight clip formed when the blank was punched while overlapping the edge of the metal stock sheet. Small straight clips typically have a weaker Blakesley Effect than small curved clips so look for the tapered rims and heavy die flow on peripheral devices(most prominent at AMER).

Sweet! I can see a very slight Blakesley Effect but it wasn't as prominent as I thought it should be. Know I know its because its a straight clip. Thanks guys!

I get Customer Wrapper Rolls and I get Fed Wrapped Rolls (N. F. Strings & Sons). This was from a customer wrapped roll. Most of my best error have been from Customer Wrapped Rolls but I have been finding tons of Wheats in Fed Wrapped lately.
