Is F-12 correct (NGC graded F-12).

Also, what would the right price to pay for this type of coin be? I don't like slabbed coins, and I'd probably remove it from the holder, so what would be the right approach?

$105 would be considered fair market value, but I find when they are slabbed they go for a little more. This is nice and original and personally I would be willing to pay in the $130 range because I don't resell and buy because I love owning them.

$110 to $120 sounds about right. This one better than average eye appeal in my opinion.

Wholesale on that date in F12 is $80 to $90 with retail being $110 to $120. Don't expect to find a nice, certified F12 like that one for wholesale. I'd value that one at $120.

Thanks guys! Would it be silly to remove from the slab? Every coin I have for my set is raw, so I was thinking of removing it from the slab but I am not sure if I should.

I purchased it for $125 so hopefully I didn't overpay too much.

almost all of mine are also raw. Just picked up an 1805 dime that was NGC slabbed. I wanted in the type set not in a holder. I bought it to fill a hole. this is the first time I broke one out but I'm happy I did it, it looks great in the book with the other coins. if you are going to place it in an album, I say go for it! if you are planning on selling it down the road, I would leave it slabbed

I agree with panzaldi. But for me it would be easy to bust out. Since I never sell any coins.

Leave it in the holder. I think you paid just about right. Nice coin!

Nice coin

I would only leave it slabbed if I were planning to resell the coin. I always break them out - just my opinion of course.

Thanks everyone for your insights! I'll probably keep it slabbed for now, but if/when I complete the set I'll think about either slabbing the other coins or removing this one from the slab.

Personally, unless I'll lose significant cash by breaking a coin out, I break 'em out! I like holes filled in my Dansco albums.
