I picked this one up today after having taken a break from ancients for a bit. The details are wonderful in my eyes, but I am a tad concerned about some of the verdigris on the reverse around the 10-11 o'clock position. How bad do you think that it is, and do you think that it will continue to grow? Thanks.

Also, any guesses as to the value of my coin? thanks.

If it is flakey then you need to get rid of it, all of it. Also check out the reverse of the Tetricus.

Great looking coin, a bit of detail off the flan but I still think this is a very attractive addition

pishpash is correct, if the green flakes it needs treating, if not its better left.

I personally don't think BD is a huge problem as long as the coin is not riddled. Long soaks seem to have worked just fine for me in the past.

The reverse detail is great, interestingly the ancient connotations of holding the head of Serapis are not what most would assume today. It signifies Genius taking on the qualities of Serapis and perhaps hints at political rebirth, very apt indeed for who and when this coin was minted.

I'm cheap but I'd pay $50 for this, even with parts of it being off flan I would not be surprised to see it somewhere like vcoins for $100.

pishpash & chrsmat71- thanks! It's actually not flaky. so I might just lave it alone. I did recently order a chemical akin to verdigone through Dirty Old Coins, so after a few experiments with that, I may give it a go.

bobbyhelmet- Thanks! Good to know. TO be honest, I was worried that I overpaid for it- but I only paid $45 from a very reputable dealer.

Excellent details on this coin. I wouldn't worry too much about the green flaky stuff. I also think you got it for a decent price.
