Interesting 63 Nickel Error - Coin Community Forum

JimmyCC Valued Member United States 122 Posts	Posted 09/22/2013 07:10 am I tried taking the best pics I could. There is something behind the 6 in 1963, it looks like a rotated 5. Also, the bottom half of "RTY" in liberty and all of "1963" are half missing/duller than the top half. I found it in a roll of my grandmas nickels while looking for dates to fill in a book. pyrbob Rest in Peace United States 1943 Posts	Posted 09/22/2013 09:46 am Hi Jimmy! Good eye but unfortunately your nickel is just damaged. It was probably one of the end coins in an open end shotgun style nickel roll. The machine that rolls down the paper on the end hit the coin making the circular damage around the coin. It hit the numbers and letters but didn't go deep enough to hit the field of the coin. Report this Post to the Staff
