I agree that winning a contest shouldn't compell a person to start a new contest, but I have so much fun with the contests that I figured I'd run one.

First off the rules. Just post your answer in this thread and I'll let you know when someone has won. Please only answer once per week, but feel free to guess on all 3 parts of the contest each week.

Now the contest! I went to the 24th annual Mid-America Coin Expo this weekend in Chicago and was able to complete 3 sets with coins that I bought there. What 3 coins did I buy? ok, that could be really broad, so here is some help:

Coin # ; Cost of the coin ; Description of the set it completed

#1 ; $60 ; Walker halves 1916-1947, circulated business strikes by Date and MM

#2 ; $4 ; Franklin half dollars 1948-1963, circulated business strikes by Date and MM

#3 ; $35 ; Lincoln Cents 1959-2005, BU business and proof strikes by Date, MM, and (Major) Variety

Finally the prizes. I have 3 unsearched rolls of 2005D Bison nickels in their original bank shrinkwrap (yes, unfortunately all my bank carries is the plastic shrinkwrapped rolls); there are 3 parts to the contest and winning a part of the contest wins you one of the rolls.

Good luck and have fun!

Congrats CT! Three sets in one show is an accomplishment. And walkers in particular must have been fun but challanging. That 1921 was as inexpensive as they come- quite the pickup.

1) 1917-D WLH
2) 1954-s
3) 1960 small date proof

Thanks for sponsoring CT!

Time to put on my guessing cap.
1) 1938 D Walker halves
2) 1953 Franklin halves
3) 1970 S date (high 7) Lincoln Cents

I admire you for completing 3 sets in one go. How many other coins did you get?

Fantastic! Wow, a whole roll of the bufflo nickels, I haven't even seen one yet! [:0] They will be going to a good home. I'm thrilled.

Good luck to other members guessing the Franklin half dollar and the Lincoln Cent.

OK, Cave Troll, I'll give it a try.

BF Half: 1952-D
Lincoln: 1979-S (filled)

If these are not correct, I'll try again as soon as I'm eligible.

Thanks for sponsoring this contest. It adds to the atmoshphere here at Coin Community.

Cave Troll, The Buffalo coins arrived today! Wow! They are fantastic. It's the first time I've seen this design, so I'm excited.
Many thanks for holding this generous contest.
When I saw the postage cost to Australia, I realised that I owe you one.

Toast- I'm glad you like them!

ok everyone, here's a couple hints: 1) Daniel J. Goevert's Lincoln Cent guess (1979S Type 1) is on the right track. 2) All of the Franklin guesses are to early. (My coin is more recent than all those guesses.)

To be fair to everyone, those who have already guessed are free to guess again without waiting.

Neat contest. I'll make a couple of guesses:

#3) 1981-S type II proof Lincoln Cent

Thanks!
