Quite a common one actually, you usually see these once or twice a year at Canadian coin auctions.... I will have a cheaper one (MS-60) in my case at Coin Expo... if it does not sell there, then I'll toss it up on the ebay store later in October.

How would this 67 50 cent piece compare to in rarity to the 67 double struck dollars that we also see out there?

There are lots of both 50 cents and dollar version of the 67 double struck coins, someone sold over 20 of these halves a couple years ago on heritage alone. Though a cool error coin, one can argue these were custom made.

Like most dramatic error coins, they are produced at the mint but how they got out to the public is in question. with the 67 double strucks there just too many around for it to be a accidental occurrence, This coin is catalogued and accepted

That is an awesome coin...the coin is the most interesting variety of this type I've seen....reminds me of super clash types..call it hyper doubling..last year I sold a DD 67 wolf on the bay which was a nice gem grade but this one is way nicer

BACK DOOR JOB!...doesn't sound to flattering...do you think it still happens? the security must be super tight compared to 1967...but when you think about it it must be very tempting for a knowledgeable inside worker or supervisor to capitalize on the demand for extraordinary errors which this coin is...anyways back door job or not I wouldnt mind having one!
