Hello,

I can buy the following coin for a good price but I'm not sure its real, I need your expertise!

The coin is 12.5 grams and 30mm in diameter. Is it genuine in your opinion?

Thanks for your help!

Looks like a tetradrachm of Syria, Antiochus 1.
Apollo seated on omphalos with spear & bow.

For a diameter of c/- 30 mm and a weight of 12.5 grammes, it seems to be a bit too light for me.
Not real happy with it, but I still have a bit to learn. These tetradrachms normally weigh around 16.5 grammes.

I am not what you would call an infallible 'ex pert' with these.
For me, 'ex' means a 'has been', and 'spurt' is a 'drip' under pressure!

Cast fake...ive seen a lot of caste fake tetradrachms like this popping up on ebay. I probably wouldnt notice it on its own, but I've been seeing a lot of this around and they all seem to be done exactly the same way.
