Has anyone here had experience (good or bad) with getting their coins conserved through PCGS?
I'm looking to get slabbed coin I think will make AU50 but it has some grime (dirt?) in the grooves that I want cleaned up so the coin can store long term without any contaminants inside the slab.
It is a coin worth 5 figures and irreplaceable (it is a rare coin with no other coin above VF). I don't want to run the risk of the coin not being properly conserved and looking unnatural.

I sent my "Questionable Color" Seated Liberty dollar in for "conservation" through PCGS. I received it back with a sticky note saying that there was nothing that they could do...except collect the $25 plus shipping.

BTW, ANACS is now advertising this "service" too.

I have heard some great things about their service, but I don't know if I'd risk it with that valuable of a coin. I would give them a call and ask any questions that you have about the service and maybe they can give you a suggestion about what to do.

Didn't know they had one, and I was a club member.

Quite frankly, I'd stick to NGC/NCS for a coin of this stature. Its' uniqueness would override the "PCGS Premium" anyway, and as low as my opinion of NGC is sometimes, I've nothing ill to say about NCS.
