Don't know for sure about the design. I'm not even sure if they have been released but do know that they have been printed back in July, so just wondering if any one has seen one.

No, the next redesign, the "Meaningful Access" redesign starts in 2020 or possibly 2021 with the $10 bill, which all denominations except the $1 bill MUST be redesigned to feature larger numerals, embossed shapes and other features for the blind and visually impaired. I know this, because I asked the BEP if the reason the Series 2009 $2 bill print run was only going to supply the demand for $2 bills until 2014, was because I thought that the Series 2013 (2014?) $2 bills would be coming out with the redesigned "Meaningful Access" redesign features, and I was told that the first denomination, which is currently set to be the $10 bill, unless any counterfeiting threats are happening, they will change the denomination, and if any redesigned denomination would come out before 2020, legislation would have to be passed by Congress by law, which is why, if they do reissue the $500 bill, I'm betting it will be around/after 2020.

They can change the series without changing the design. I didn't know there was a 2013 series coming out. This is interesting. Is this only for $5 bills at this time?

Don't know if it's only the $ 5.00 for 2013, only know that they've printer a bunch of them back in July. They may be like the $ 100.'s and wont be released for a few years ?.

Well, of course there is going to be a Series 2013 (I thought it could have been Series 2014, due to the $2 bill issue mentioned above) Timothy F. Geithner resigned as Secretary of the Treasury and a guy named "Jack Lew" became Secretary of the Treasury, so we should start seeing Series 2013 bills of all denominations with his signature on them, as long as we 'need" more of those denominations printed.

Here's how it goes:

If the Secretary of the Treasury changes, the Series year changes to the year he was sworn into office.

If the bill was redesigned the Series year changes to that year.

If the Secretary of the Treasury AND the design of the bill changes, the Series year changes to that year.

If just the Treasurer changes, the Series year is kept, but there is a suffix letter is added each time a Treasurer changes (Series 2013A, Series 2013B and so on...) as long as the same Secretary of the Treasury remains in office.

Does that sort of clear things up for you guys?

It sounds ok with me as I collect by type, design, and series year not by signatures, numbers, or stars, so I don't care who the Secretary of the Treasury is as long as there's a series year change and / or a design change I want one for my Collection.

Not me,
I collect them all from $1's to $ 100's, been waiting for a long time for the new 100's to come out.

The only small size 100's I'm missing are the 2006-FW and of course the new yet to be released 100's. Once I fine those my collection of small size 100's will be complete from the beginning of the small size notes in 1928 to the current date.

Probably the best summary I have seen posted in a while, if ever.

I don't think there's a design change, so it will look like the 5's we have now but with the 2013 date because of the new Secretary of the Treasury Jack Lew. I collect by series year so need to put one in the collection.

A bit beat up but I got one today in change. Looks the same as the series 2009, but the Treasury secretary's first name is pretty much unreadable.

More info would be helpful, such as, what part of the country did you find it ?, was it a FW or a DC ? and what district bank was it from ?.
