stampvirgin Pillar of the Community United States 1247 Posts	Posted 09/28/2013 8:25 pm My father found this metal detecting up in Maine... 1782 Cayenne 2 Sous West Indies "A" mint. Not really sure what it was used for.. Someone had drilled a small hole (1mm) at the top of the coin. Pretty beat up but you can still make everything out. I have read that they were "rum" tokens.. anyone have a history on these? Officially, they were meant to be issued in billon, however all the specimens I had looked like copper. I also had one in brass, which I think was probably counterfeit. Report this Post to the Staff
