I doubt it will differ by $144.6 million. I mean, that is the value of every single penny made that entire year. If 6 billion pennies are made at a cost of 2.41 pennies each, it will take 6 billion x 2.41 pennies given to charity or some other useful program just to break even with the cost.
For every penny made and then given to charity, we could have simply given 2.41 cents to them from that budget. It's a no-win for the penny. It is self defeating because even if the penny can do good in that moment, it cost 2.41 pennies to make it.
Cents make no sense.
