Poll Question
Weigh in on the poll and comment if you like.
I vote yes. I regularly pick up the much maligned penny and find I enjoy the ice cream/soda/beer I buy with them once they pile up.

I heard several years ago... it costs Bill Gates more to stop and pick up a quarter - than the quarter is worth. That said...I ain't Bill Gates...

I avoid especially disgusting ones, but otherwise I pick them up.
My dignity has limits (gotta be a quarter or higher to fish out from under the vending machine, and at least a loonie to stick my hands in a urinal).

Talked about that at school, and our math class determined that at minimum wage ($10.25/hour which is what most of us would make) it is worth picking up a penny if you can do it in less than 3 seconds. So ever since then, yes, I do pick them up! Especially if its a higher denomination like a dime! Yippee! EDIT: I guess if I was making $1025, I wouldn't even be wasting time thinking about it.

Me and my mother go to the local 7 Eleven about every night, and were are almost always finding change on the parking lot. I've had times where I've found two quarters, or three pennies, or a dime or nickel. Haven't run into a half or a dollar coin yet, but I once found a $1 bill on the sidewalk by a hospital decades ago, when I was a kid, and my brother even found $22 in paper money on our grandma's neighbor's lawn when he was a kid. And I found an old 1920s Wheatie in the older part of town, when I was watching an old school being demolished. I was across the street on a sidewalk and notived the Wheayie half burried in overgrown grass on the sidewalk.
Anyway, my mom calls the pennies we find on the 7 Eleven parking lot "Pennies from Heaven" and she keeps the zincs we find in a jar, while all coppers go in my junk copper penny barrel.

Quote: Bill Gates more to stop and pick up a quarter - than the quarter is worth I heard it was a hundred dollar bill, not a quarter.

Not these days.. I'm old. Maybe a quarter if I saw one. (And it was outside my Chiropractors office.)

I actually picked up a ha' penny once. Or, more accurately, a cent broken in half. Furthermore, I looked for the other half but didn't find it!

Just copper and 2009 Cents There have been many occasions where the Cent I picked up spared me from getting four back in change...

Always... I have had two notable finds from coins on the ground. One: 1964-D silver dime. Two: 1969-S JFK counterstamped penny.
