I received this coin as a present when I was younger. I think it's a Gallienus with a doe on the reverse. I'd like to know more about it but I'm not very good at attributing ancients. Thanks in advance!
Lazy Celator - poorly sunk, poorly struck - typical of the rome mint at this point!
Should read (its a bit lopsided on this one): GALLIENVS AVG
Reverse reads: DIANAE CONS AVG
Mint mark looks like XN, but its actually XII with a die chip. Reference is RIC V-1 Rome 181 (S) and the animal isn't a doe but I reckon its a Gazelle, which is a nicer design I feel.
Thanks for the info! I was wondering what on earth "XN" meant, and the zoo series is quite interesting - it's nice to see other examples of similar coins.
