Here is another coin I would like to get some opinions on. I just pulled this 1970 Half Dollar Proof out of the sealed set after I noticed the shield on the reverse looked like it had lines extending from the bards in the shield through the upper part of the shield. I've never noticed this before so I figured I would post them. Thoughts? Thanks in advance Chris

Photos are a little dark.I was able to lighten the second one enough to see what you're talking about. It looks like trails to me.

It does look like trails. You might want to contact them. It might be a discovery piece? http://www.traildies.com/They recently listed a Jefferson nickel with Wavysteps on the Monticello. So people are checking out other denominations for trails and wavysteps. These are caused by the same process and are not doubled dies. They are interesting.

It does look like a trail die. Can you post a pic of the whole coin? John1

Looks like the real deal. You can see the olive leaves and the arrows and the EPU banner affected. Very nice find.

I did not see anything listed for that date on traildies.com. May be a new find.

It is a new find for the denomination I believe. It's a big find. I've been in contact with the right sources already.

Thanks Everyone,
Coop, I didn't even notice the trails on the banner, arrows or olive leaves. Thanks for pointing them out, I was focused solely on the shield. I opened up 20 proof sets to cherry pick coins for grading and found another coin with identical trails.
I have contacted Traildies and will be shipping both coins in for attribution and I'll post the results when I receive them.

Are the trails exactly the same on both coins? Look closely to see if they are from the same die. The best way to tell is to look for a die scratch/gouge/crack or even field raised areas to see if it is a match or not.

I just emailed you back. There are two? If they are exactly the same only send one.

Coop,
I'll double check when I get home in a couple hours.
Jason,
If they are confirmed to be identical I'll send one coin, if there is a difference I will send them both.
Regards,
Chris

Ok, someone must be thinking; "How did coop turn that image of an oval coin into a circle?"
