I would like to hear your opinion on:
For the American Silver Eagle's, does the Littleton Showpack have any extra value as compared to any other "Uncirculated" ASE?

ex: I have 20 same date ASE's in the Showpacks, they would take up a lot less room in a tube!
Thanks, Paul.

No extra resale premium arises out of Littleton packaging. Those Littleton slabs do take up a lot of space, too. The few coins I've bought (non-descript ASE's,
Libs and CSM's) that were in Littleton and other aftermarket slabs are now all in tubes.

Thank you Freddy, I think now I will do the same and get al my ASE's into tubes.
I like the green capped tubes from the US Mint, would you say they are about the best tube available? My local coin shop sells them for a $1, so that seems like a fair way to go.
Thanks in advance for any input.

If they're undamaged and the tops seal well, US Mint tubes for $1 each are a good buy and I'd grab all I could at that price. You'll need a box to keep the tubes
in, so if the LCS has an empty US Mint monster box available for a reasonable price, I'd grab that as well. If they keep their boxes (as most do), military
surplus ammo boxes provide good protection. Just wash it out and let it dry well before using it for PM storage so you purge it of any chemical residue.

So I have still NOT taken my ASE's out of the "Show-Packs" or small cello bags because I just keep thinking that while in the packs they have proof of being "Uncirculated", and that "Should" be of some extra value.

So I have about 20 ASE's in packs and cello's, Uncirculated, but of mixed dates from 1995 to 2007. If I put these in a tube then they would be just a "Mixed" tube of ASE's.
At my local shop, he gets Spot+ $2.50 for Bullion, Spot+ $3.50 for ASE Bullion, Spot+$4.50 for Unc ASE's, and Spot+ $5 for UNC 2013 ASE's.
Mixed tubes are just ASE Bullion.

It would seem to my dealer that these Show Packs do give some extra value.......

The vast majority of ASE bullion is uncirculated, its actually really rare to find one that really did circulate though some to get messed up from people handling them.

Are you sure for the Unc ASE he doesn't mean the W version?

No basebal21, I am not 100% sure now that you mention it. All the coins I am talking about,(in the shop), are in tubes of 20. Of the mixed ASE's I have gotten from him few/none are damaged or worn. 1 in 5 have toning of some degree. Last time I was in, he had two ASE's in the "Bullion" box. One was "Unc" but had a picture of the White House printed on the reverse, the other was early and very worn on the obverse, my guess was used as a beltbuckle fixture. I think he is over stocked as most are now and has no reason to lower any prices. I took three of my ASE Proofs to him to see if he would work a trade...... 3 proofs for 6 ASE's....... He said he only values the proofs at $38 because he has over 150 in the back and can not sell them........... but he is asking $75 each!

Jesus, maybe he wouldnt have over 150 of them if he wasnt charging 75 for them lol. You can almost buy a new pcgs pr 70 for that price.

His pricing just struck me as odd that he values the 2013s higher than past dates which made me think maybe that was the W one since usually its the other way around.

Oden---Asking your LCS and vendors at any shows in your area if they pay more for ASEs in Littleton packages might shed some light on what value enhancement those packages provide.

Those packages do validate uncirculated coin status, but they don't provide dependable atmospheric protection that prevents toning. I've had extremely toned coins that came to me in those
packages (as well as similar Royal Mint packages). Overall, I find the packages to be space-wasters, but...

If you like those packages and have the available space to accomodate them, then you should definitely stick with them. One thing about them -- they do stack very well.
