Don't have a picture available at the moment, but I got a Series 2009 $20 in change today with a serial number of JE11700509*. Condition is lightly folded due to being in my billfold, but otherwise uncirculated.

Any reason to hold onto this? I save any and all $1 star notes I find, but $20 is a bit much to tie up forever if it's not actually worth more than face value...

Check out USPaperMoney.info for serial number charts.

That series is still being printed and, if I'm reading the chart right, there were over 12 million JE's with stars printed in D.C. The star notes printed in TX are far fewer.

I have no idea if it qualifies as scarce. It doesn't seem to me that it would.

If you belong to a local coin club, you could always see if anybody there wants it for face value.

Try this http://mycurrencycollection.com/ref...stars/lookup

You could probably sell it for a premium, some people love those. I have before.

All right, thanks. According to the link Bassmaster provided, my note was part of a run size of 3,200,000 with a total of 4,480,000 printed. Not sure if that means that there were 3,200,000 star notes printed or what, but either way it doesn't appear to be particularly rare...
