The next Morgan on my buy list is the 1893P Morgan. I know that the 1893S is counterfeited a lot but what about the 1893P? Is this a coin I should be looking into slabbed? Thanks in advance.

If you have doubts about authenticity on any high grade or rare coins then buying slabed coins from a well known dealer is your safest bet as slabs have also been faked. (Although that is much less likely)

Thanks Nathancrh1, I will most likely buy this one slabbed. I just didn't know if it is as highly counterfeited as the 1893-S, due to its low mintage.

Probably not as much as the S because of its lower value but pretty much everything is counterfeited to some extent. I bet you could find a bunch that had an S mint mark added to them.

No doubt about that.

....which is pretty much a shame since 1893-P is no common issue on its' own, having a mintage on par with 1889-CC. I'd call it a "healthy skepticism of anything raw" coin, and a greater likelihood of seeing a fake than more-common issues.

It certainly is. Its the 2nd or 3rd most valuable P mint if I remember correctly. I cant help be think that could be a sleeper and one day the P and S value gap could close some as that get tried with more and more of them.
