Helping a friend sell her deceased brothers collection, I came across this coin in an old Whitman Morgan album.

Most of the collection is going to be tied to silver value, but this lady may bring a little more! Just looking to get an idea of CCF consensus grade to decide if slabbing would maximize her profit.

Either way, thank you all in advance for your opinions!

I would say F15 - VF20 , all the lettering looks really sharp.

Wouldn't you just get a details coin if you tried to have it slabbed ?

I'll go VG10 also.

Curious ......... why would it get details ? It doesn't look cleaned or scratched or altered in any way.

I would definitely get it slabbed what ever it gets graded at.

It just looks like somebody touched up the fields to create the halos around the stars and lettering. I don't know, maybe it's natural but it looks odd to me.

I have it at F12 Details; I think a TPG would get nervous at the degree of contrast between the "halo" and fields and pronounce it an old cleaning. It should still end up in a slab, though, if a final resale value of $130-ish warrants the investment.
