I picked up 5 rolls of quarters last week partly to see what I could find, partly for the toll boths I would encounter on my recent trip. Three of the rolls the bank gave me were brand new 2007 quarters in the plastic wrap. I noticed on one of the quarters that it looked to have already changed color. Is this normal? I pulled the quarter out to look at closer when I have some time.

Thoughts?

Normal? No, I wouldn't think so.

Possible? Sure, it all depends on the environment they've been subjected to.

You have a picture? It is possible that it could be missing the outer clad layer but it's kinda rarer

if you are seeing that kind of brown spotty stuff it is the stuff they clean the coin with . most of the time they don't get it all rinsed off. tone would start in the blue or greenish color ( only from my experience) but most of the coins that I have sen from the Statehood Quarters are just the residue left over from the wash
hope that helps. and thanks for the spell check lol

Thanks for the info. I think it may just be the cleaning solution. Was just unusual.

Of course you could have a 2007 coin that was made 20 or 30 years ago as a test.
Then again might have been sitting somewhere full of onions.
