After looking through the 2008 Red Book I bought from our Forum Mom, I happen to notice Whitman is offering a free gift.  The offer is in the back of the book just past page 400. All you have to do is tear out the offer and mail the postage paid card and you will receive a free book "The Expert's Guide to Collecting and Investing in Rare Coins" This book is nearly 700 pages of advice from Q. David Bowers. Just wanted to share the offer with ya all... If its free, its me...    Tim |

Also, in the front of the book is an offer from NGC. It's for a "free" certified 2007 ASE. It's not exactly free, but might interest some of our members. Edited by Gary Burke

Hello everyone I normally don't do this but I called the number in the 2008 Red Book (the one about the free NGC certified ASE). well you have to go through hoops till they finely decide that you don't want the other stuff they are trying to sell. well that was to be expected anyway they called again the next morning and tried to sell somemore.lol they went as far as having one guy start yelling something inaudible in the background and the guy using his sad voice said "there went another one" lol meaning they had just sold another platinum coin.ok I finally got rid of him. the next day I missed the call but I know it was from him again the caller ID said it was UCB I don't know what that means but it is the same initials that came up the first time he called. no calls yet today but I did get my very nice NGC certified GEM UNCERCULATED 2007 ASE in the mail.it is a nice coin and well worth the $10.00 I paid for it but some may say that the phone calls are annoying they are but look what I got. lol thanks Gary  |

From one Gary to another. I also called the company and ordered the ASE. I was more lucky than you in that I haven't had any phone calls. After listening to the sales pitch for about five minutes I told him I had to go. Since I cut him off early, I hope I still get my ASE. |

did you get to the second guy? one guy talks your head off trying to tell you about how how platinum is more precious than gold then when he figures out that you aint biting he sends you to the next guy that verifies all your bank card info and then he orders your coin. ( that's what he told me anyway) so if you don't get it in 5-6 days call back. I ordered mine on 4/30/07 and got it today 5/4/07 so that is around 5 days.

Hi TimJing There are 2 gifts in the RedBook. 1 (in back of book) is the card you mail in for a free book...the other (in front of book) you call to get the NGC certified GEM UNCERCULATED 2007 ASE Tim |

if your book don't have the coin in it the # is 18004592646 and the vault verification # in my book is URBS407 but I am not sure if it is the same in every book. I gave that # to another friend and they blew him off so it could change in every book

Gary, I did get to the second guy, but also told him I had an appointment, so he just "verified" my address. Took under a minute.

I received my ASE in the mail today. It's only the second slabbed coin I own. Looks to be absolutely perfect. Now, if I don't get a lot of phone calls, I would have to say it was well worth the $10.  |
