Olympic (Washington) State Quarter Fault?

StolenHobby New Member United States 3 Posts	Posted 10/19/2013 08:10 am I hope this is the correct forum to post this question in, but I was wondering if this is a regular error, I can't seem to find it on the internet anywhere. I have 2011 D State Quarter for Washington that's the Olympic kind, and on the front it says "In God W Trust". It almost looks as though the "E" from "WE" was never there. I don't think it wash rubbed off. I'm not sure what kind if error this is called, but is this one of the regular State Quarter errors? This occurs when grease gets in part of the device that stamps the coin, filling in that part of the design. I would take it to several reputable coin dealers to authenticate it. It's likely that your coin is an example of a grease filled strike as suggested above ... this is a common mint occurrence and generally not considered to be of value in minor cases of a few elements of the design 'missing'. Photos of the area in question would help to support a true diagnosis ... I will suggest to the Mod Dudes to move your post to a more appropriate forum where it will gain better visibility. I will have to post pics tomorrow, since trying to figure this out is making me want to jump in front of a bus. In the meantime, dies anyone still know a good magnifying picture app? Thanks!!
