Found this dime amongst some other left-over coins from an earlier business trip to the US. Can someone help me figuring out whether this is a genuine (struck)-error or something else ? In case it is an error indeed, what value can be associated to it ? Thanks a lot.[/b]

Looks like somebody soldered some sort of fixture to that dime. The rim looks damaged as though it was made into a piece of jewelry or a button.

People do weird stuff to coins.

I seriously doubt that it left the mint looking like that.

As stated above. This was done outside the mint and is damage. Sorry, not an error coin.
