This note can out of 100 pack of 1s this was the only one like in the pack.
Its not oil I have ck for that it seem to be in the paper fibers?

has anyone seen one like this before

Could be heat damage. Could have been mud that was cleaned off.

How did you check for oil?

I used a microscope to look at fiber and it didn't look like the other dollar I put oil on to compare it to.
No oil dripped out

It looks like it was made like this

Odd. My store got one with a much darker stain than yours. I thought it was a scorch mark or something like that so I didn't take it. Maybe I should see if it's still there.
