I was just looking for help to identify this coin. Who and what is it's origin, is it worth anything? Would appreciate any help.

Welcome!
The portrait is King Rama IX of Thailand, who seems to be a frequent guest here on the Unidentifieds Forum!

Thank you very much for your help. This is 1 item from a collection of coins acquired by my grandfather, who was a merchant seaman, lost at sea when torpedoed in the North Atlantic during the war. Most of the coins I have identified, except for a few. Your help is appreciated, and I may be asking for more.

I'm curious as to how this got into your grandfather's collection, as I believe it is a post-WWII coin.

AS the collection was my uncle's possession for a number of years, and he lived in the seaport of South Shields, he may well have added to the collection over the years, adding coins he obtained from other sailors. There are quite a lot which post date WWII.

That's right. I've now got quite a collection ranging from Ussr to USA. Mostly smaller denominations, but interesting.

Yes it is Thailand. One baht dated BE2504 (that's 1962 to you and me).

And welcome to the community.
