I'm in a small to medium suburban town that's mostly residential. Is it true that cities are poor areas for CRHing? With so many businesses and people around? I find an average of about 12 wheats a box where I live. How about people in rural areas, have you ever struck it rich or have higher find rates? Just curious!

I'm about an hour from you and Always get 20-24 Wheats per box. Don't think I ever saw 25, but 20 is pretty much the bottom figure.. mostly 50's with the occasional score.

I have better luck in towns than city's. In the town I find more older and all nickel nickels, but lacks Americans. In the city I find a normal amount of all nickel nickels, but not as much older ones and lot of Americans.

@ DeadheadRI

Yeah, my wheat haul per box really fluctuates. My top is 25 wheats, my low was probably 7 to 10. Usually I get almost 20 but with the occasional low box it averages it out to 15.

@ Joseph7420

What you're saying makes perfect sense. In smaller towns there's less people and less commerce, keeping older coins in circulation. In a city with lots of businesses and people (not to mention lots of American tourists) coins would change hands quickly and be worn out faster. The influx of tourists would bring in foreign coins. I wonder if someone in a very small, agriculturally based community would have very good luck with nickels, like a 5% buffalo score. I don't think I'll move to anywhere like this, but hey, I can dream can't I?

Been roll hunting for over 30 years, and I can say there are no differences between rich or poor areas, and also no majic banks.
When I listen to LED ZEPPELIN...so do my neighbors...
Roll hunting since '77
Dirt fishing since '72
